FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The questions buyers ask before they order — and the straight answers.
Can you deliver electromagnetic magnetic separators to African ports such as Lagos, Durban, Dar es Salaam, and Mombasa?
Our electromagnetic magnetic separators are regularly shipped to major African ports including Lagos (Nigeria), Durban (South Africa), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), and Mombasa (Kenya), with export packing and ocean booking handled through experienced freight forwarders. We secure the units in wooden crates or framed steel skids with moisture-proof wrapping to protect the coils and magnetic assemblies during long sea transit. Our team can also advise on the import documentation and port clearance needed at your destination so the equipment arrives ready for installation.
What certifications do you hold?
Our separators are CE certified and backed by numerous technical patents and certifications. Ask us for the specific certificates for your market.
How do I choose the right electromagnetic separator chamber — pipeline, grid, drawer, drum, or fluid — for my material size and iron content?
Choosing the chamber comes down to your particle size and how much iron you need to pull out — coarse, free-flowing dry powder fits a pipeline or grid magnet, while pasty, slurry, or liquid streams work better with a drawer, drum, or fluid (wet) separator that keeps steady contact with the material. Higher iron load and finer particles call for a chamber with more capture area and a stronger, adjustable field, which raises removal efficiency without slowing your line. Tell us your feed size, flow rate, and iron content, and we match the chamber shape and field strength to your process so separation stays reliable and cleanup stays simple.
How often should I clean an electromagnetic magnetic separator, and what factors change how frequently I need to do it?
Cleaning interval depends mainly on your iron load and material flow — lines with heavy or continuous iron carry need more frequent discharge, while light loads can run longer between cleanouts. Our electromagnetic units use automatic or manual discharge so captured iron is released without stopping the line, which keeps uptime high and reduces manual labor. We recommend a cleaning routine based on your feed rate and iron content, and our engineers help you set the right cycle during commissioning.
Can an electromagnetic magnetic separator run continuously, and how is coil temperature rise controlled during long production shifts?
Yes — our electromagnetic separators are built for continuous duty, with the coil wound and insulated for sustained excitation and a housing designed to carry heat away so the magnetic field stays stable through long production shifts. Keeping coil temperature under control reduces the risk of thermal protection trips and unplanned stoppages, and it enables a consistent separation result across the whole run. Energy use is set mainly by coil rating and duty cycle, so we size the coil to your actual throughput instead of oversizing it. If your plant runs around the clock, tell us the shift pattern and we will match the coil design and cooling arrangement to that duty.
Can it be connected to my existing production line?
Yes. We design in-line pipe, drawer, rotary and U-type units that drop into existing pipelines with zero extra floor space.
Can you customize a model for my material?
Yes. Field strength, coil cooling, throughput and layout are engineered to your feed size, capacity and target purity.
Dry or wet — which should I choose?
Dry for free-flowing powders (battery materials, minerals); wet for slurries and glazes (kaolin, feldspar, ceramic). We advise based on your material and process.
How do I choose between an electromagnetic and a permanent magnetic separator?
Electromagnetic separators use a powered coil to build a strong, adjustable magnetic field, which makes them well suited to pulling fine or weakly magnetic iron from deeper material beds and to lines where the field must switch off for automatic discharge. Permanent magnet units need no power and keep running cost low, which fits coarse, free-flowing material with a light iron load. We help match the type, field strength, and chamber (pipeline / grid / drawer / drum) to your material size, throughput, and iron content, so separation stays effective while energy use stays reasonable.
How much electricity does an electromagnetic magnetic separator use, and how can I keep the running cost low?
Our electromagnetic separators draw power mainly from the excitation coil, and actual consumption is set by coil rating, field strength and your duty cycle, so we size the coil to your real throughput instead of oversizing it. Choosing the matched model and running it on the right duty cycle reduces idle energy waste and keeps your operating cost predictable. Tell us your shift pattern and target throughput, and we recommend a configuration that balances field strength with energy efficiency.
How are your electromagnetic magnetic separators packed for export shipment to protect the coils and magnetic assemblies during long transit?
Our electromagnetic magnetic separators are packed in wooden crates or framed steel skids with moisture-proof wrapping, which protects the excitation coil and magnetic circuit from shock, humidity and corrosion during ocean and overland transit. We secure the moving parts and seal the electrical enclosures before crating, and we label the package for correct handling and storage at the destination. For your specific route and climate we can adjust the packaging, such as adding desiccant or reinforced bracing, so the unit arrives ready for installation.
Can I visit your factory or arrange a third-party inspection before placing an order for an electromagnetic magnetic separator?
We welcome factory visits and can also arrange a third-party inspection, such as SGS or your appointed auditor, before production starts or before shipment, which gives you direct confirmation of build quality and process control. A pre-shipment inspection verifies dimensions, coil insulation, and burn-in performance so the unit leaves our plant meeting your specifications, and it reduces the risk of surprises after arrival at your site. Tell us your audit plan and we coordinate the schedule, documentation, and access to the production line.
Do you offer a free sample test?
Yes. Send 1–2 kg of your material and we return a test report showing the iron removed and the achievable result.
How does an electromagnetic magnetic separator work, and what happens to the iron it captures?
An electromagnetic magnetic separator energizes a wound coil to create a strong, controllable magnetic field across the separation zone, which attracts and holds ferrous particles as your material flows past. The captured iron is then released automatically or manually by switching off the field or activating a discharge mechanism, so the line keeps running without stopping to clear the magnets. This continuous trap-and-release action removes damaging metal before sensitive equipment, which protects your machinery, raises product purity, and reduces contamination risk in the final output.
How low can your separator bring the iron content?
It depends on your feed material and model. Send us a sample and we run a free test, then report the actual Fe reduction your line can expect — no numbers are quoted without a test.
How do I get a quote?
Tell us your material, feed size, capacity and target. We return a matched model and price — usually within 24 hours.
What import documents and compliance requirements do I need to receive an electromagnetic magnetic separator at my destination port?
We prepare the export documents your destination requires — typically a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, and a CE declaration where applicable — so customs clearance at your port proceeds smoothly. For markets such as Nigeria, India, and Southeast Asia, we can advise on local import permits, conformity assessment, and any voltage or safety standards your consignment must meet. Tell us your destination country and we confirm the exact paperwork before shipment, which reduces the risk of hold-ups at customs.
Which industries use electromagnetic magnetic separators, and what benefits do they bring to my production line?
Electromagnetic separators protect machinery and raise product purity across mining, ceramics, food, chemical, recycling, coal and glass lines — for example they remove damaging iron from kaolin and feldspar before milling, and capture metal from food or recycle streams to meet safety and quality specs. In each case the right unit reduces unplanned downtime from jammed or worn equipment and enables a cleaner, more consistent final product. Tell us your material and process and we map the separator type, chamber and field strength to your plant.
Do you provide installation support and drawings for your electromagnetic magnetic separator, or can my team set it up without your engineers on site?
We supply installation drawings, connection diagrams and English manuals with every electromagnetic separator, so your local team can prepare the foundation, piping and power before the unit arrives. For the actual setup our engineers can guide the work remotely by video, or travel on site for commissioning and operator training when your project needs hands-on support. This flexible arrangement reduces your waiting time and enables the separator to run correctly from the first day of operation.
Do you ship internationally and provide commissioning?
We export to Southeast Asia, India, Africa and the EU, with 72-hour on-site service and English documentation.
Do you supply electromagnetic magnetic separators as OEM / private label, and what is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Yes — we manufacture under your own brand (OEM / private label), including custom nameplates, manuals and packaging, so the units reach your market as your product. Our minimum order quantity is flexible and set case by case from model type and voltage, which lets you start with a trial batch before scaling up. Tell us your target market and branding needs and we return an OEM proposal with MOQ, lead time and pricing.
What payment methods and terms do you accept for international orders of electromagnetic magnetic separators?
We accept common international payment methods such as T/T (telegraphic transfer) and L/C (letter of credit), with terms typically arranged as a deposit to start production and the balance before shipment, which improves cash-flow planning on both sides. For first-time buyers we can discuss a structure that lowers your upfront risk while keeping the build on schedule, and our sales team confirms the exact terms in your proforma invoice. Tell us your preferred method and order value, and we return payment terms that suit your procurement process.
How long does it take to manufacture an electromagnetic magnetic separator, and what affects the production lead time?
Standard models are usually produced and factory-tested within a few weeks, while customized units or special coil configurations take longer because we build and verify them to your material specification. Lead time also depends on order quantity, required certification paperwork, and current workshop load, so we confirm a firm delivery date in the proforma invoice after reviewing your requirements. Sharing your target arrival date early lets us schedule production and shipping so the separator reaches your site when you need it.
What is included in a quotation for an electromagnetic magnetic separator, and what details should I provide to receive an accurate price?
Our quotation typically outlines the recommended model and chamber type, key specifications such as magnetic field strength and duty rating, the unit price under your selected Incoterms, estimated production lead time, and packaging details. To prepare an accurate quotation we need your material type, particle size, throughput, iron content, and destination port or country. Providing a sample for testing enables us to confirm the right configuration before finalizing the offer.
What is Sodium Hexametaphosphate (SHMP) and how does it help kaolin whiteness?
SHMP (Sodium Hexametaphosphate / 六偏磷酸钠) is a kaolin dispersant (deflocculant). It helps liberate and disperse iron in the slurry so a magnetic separator can capture iron more effectively, achieving higher whiteness. PTMS supplies SHMP with P₂O₅ 68% MIN in 25.0 kg net (25.1 kg gross) bags, Made in China. Quotation by inquiry only.
Does SHMP replace a magnetic separator?
No. SHMP is a dispersant / deflocculant that prepares kaolin or ceramic slurry so iron is liberated. The magnetic separator performs iron removal. Used together on the same process line, they support higher whiteness. PTMS supplies both SHMP and electromagnetic slurry magnetic separators.
What about spare parts and lead time?
OEM coils, matrices and IGBT/diode modules are stocked; we keep your separator at full capacity with fast spare-part supply.
What is Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) and how does it help kaolin whiteness?
STPP (Sodium Tripolyphosphate / 三聚磷酸钠, Na₅P₃O₁₀) is a kaolin dispersant (deflocculant). It helps liberate and disperse iron in the slurry so a magnetic separator can capture iron more effectively, achieving higher whiteness. PTMS supplies STPP in 25 kg (N.W.) / 25.1 kg (G.W.) bags, Made in China. Example COA (GB/T9983-2004): STPP 93.9%, P₂O₅ 58.4%. Quotation by inquiry only.
Does STPP replace a magnetic separator?
No. STPP is a dispersant / deflocculant that prepares kaolin or ceramic slurry so iron is liberated. The magnetic separator performs iron removal. Used together on the same process line, they support higher whiteness. PTMS supplies both STPP and electromagnetic slurry magnetic separators. Related chemical: SHMP.
What does Type I (一型) mean for STPP when dissolving?
STPP exists in anhydrous and hexahydrate forms. For Type I (一型) focus: higher Type I content leads to a higher temperature rise when dissolving in water. Confirm form and Type I preference when you inquire with PTMS.
How do I size an electromagnetic magnetic separator for my required throughput, and what information do you need to match the capacity?
Capacity matching comes down to three things: your hourly throughput (t/h or m3/h), the bulk density and flow behaviour of the material, and the maximum flow speed you can accept through the magnetic zone — material moving too fast spends less time in the field, which reduces capture of fine and weakly magnetic iron. We size the chamber, field strength and magnetic circuit from your throughput, particle size, iron content and target purity, and we build in a working margin so the unit still performs at peak load. If your feed rate fluctuates or an expansion is planned, tell us up front and we will engineer to the maximum case or leave room for a later upgrade.
What is the warranty and after-sales?
Every unit is burn-in tested for 24 hours before shipment, and our engineers can be on-site within 72 hours for commissioning and service.
Which components of an electromagnetic magnetic separator require periodic inspection or replacement during regular operation?
During normal operation, the items most exposed to wear are the protective liners or pole-face plates that contact abrasive material, the discharge mechanism used for automatic iron removal, and the cooling-system seals and coil-enclosure insulation. Inspecting these components on a scheduled basis enables stable magnetic field strength and reduces the risk of unplanned downtime. POWTECH can supply the common wear parts and recommend a spare-parts list matched to your material abrasiveness and throughput.
